Dr. Carl Liaupsin began his professional career as a special education teacher of students with emotional and behavioral disorders working in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina. As an educator and researcher, he wanted to focus his efforts on those who displayed the most challenging behaviors, but received the least resources and support. Recently, much of his research has focused on use of positive behavior supports (PBS) in the context of educational communities that support students with behavioral and emotional disorders, in a manner that allows these students to both succeed and to thrive.
